According to some, Plastic numbers 3 and 7 should be avoided and 2,4,& 5 are
safe as long as not heated ( at all?) Google Bisphenol A . Below is one
site that could get you started.
Ever since the late 1960's, when the L.A. Times put out a 6" headline
proclaiming LSD damages chromosomes, I am skeptical of "studies show" quotes, when
they don't cite the study. LSD researchers gave so much to the fruit flies
that half of them died... this is known as LD50 in the drug world (median
lethal dose). Small wonder the ones that survived were gnarly. That being said,
BisphenolA is apparently fairly nasty.
