Good question, Tortoise. I'm curious of this also, because on my
backpacks/hikes I carry a slr and 2 lenses -- a couple of pounds of
gear. I'm planning a 2 leg pct section hike in the 2007, but don't
think that I will want to carry that much gear. On weekend trips it is
fine, but I'm sure on the daily grind I will regret it. Photography is
a big part of the hike for me though, so I am not sure. What did any of
the past thru hikers carry?
As far as water resistance goes, I'm pretty comfortable with camera gear
and the elements. Plastic bags work wonders.

I'm looking to buy a digital camera to carry with me whenever I'm out
and about and wondering what all you hikers think?
On your hikes, did you carry a weather / water resistant camera? Or did
you wish that the camera you did carry was more resistant?
