[pct-l] ULA Helix Ice Axe

>From Tuolomne Meadows north to Manning Park, there is only one that I
recall - the Packwood Glacier below Old Snowy in the WA Goat Rocks
Wilderness. If you prefer, there is the alternate trail from the old
Yvelrton shelter site up and over the very top of Old Snowy, which bypasses
the glacier. I have not tried it.

If you go southbound, there are some areas around Glacier Peak that could be
very nasty as well (icy switchbacks and snowfields) in early season. A lot
depends on what time of year you are there. Hence my statement, IMO, the
most important point made was "...take into account your level of experience
and the type of terrain you intend to climb."
