My g6 cannon propriety battery lasted 25 days and 500 odd miles and I do take a lot of pictures--- Cascade Lockes to Ashland and then a little bit ---- I was amazed.

That is a good point. I have not idea how long the battery packs in the
cannon cameras last. But on shorter trips, they would probably be okay. I
wonder about recharging them with the solar panels you can carry nowadays.
