I had my Lasik in June of 97 and then hiked the JMT in August the same
year. I had no problems whatsoever at 14k plus on Whitney. Lasik was the
best thing that ever happened to me. I had pretty bad eyesight. 6 diopters
of correction. My vision was perfect within 4 weeks of surgery...but I went
with the best surgeon that I could find Dr Kawesh..the eye doctor to the
Niners, Raiders and Sharks...cost 4k but worth every penny.
I once lost my glasses during a fall down a snow covered slope while
backpacking..I had a spare set in my backpack but I had become separated
from it during the tumble. I had to basically stay put for four hours until
somebody came along and helped me find my pack..Thankfully, I was not in
some remote area.
I had the Lasik surgery performed the next year..
