[pct-l] re [pct-I] Super Secrets - Hiking Poles

I always use the straps on my poles. The straps on my current poles, Black
Diamond Terra CFs, are particularly effective. The straps act as brakes on
the way down and allow easy push off on the way up or on flat ground. When I
don't use the hand straps I get hand cramps. The hand straps are used like
the straps on ski poles. Your hand goes up though the loop so the strap
rests on the back of your hand.

I use a pair of light paddling gloves to stop any skin irritation.

Hi you pole users,

that's right. Constant strap-using will cause skin irritation. Use the
straps at least while crossing steep slopes a/o steep ice fields and while
fording. More than one pole slipped away without.
