[pct-l] Willow Springs
I got a private reply that said:
"A week ago the water faucet wasn't working. The pond is pretty bad, but the
spring that flows into it is fenced off and drinkable you just have to catch it
before it gets to the pond."
As to the 3.6 mile round trip, yes, it's extra miles (and about 700' of gain
coming back to the PCT) but that's usually a very hot, dry section and if you
camp at/near Golden Oaks Spring, Robin Bird Spring, Willow Spring, and McIvers
Spring, you have daily mileages of about 16 (starting from Hwy 58), 18+, 22, and
24 (including the side trip to WS) and have water every night--important if you
get dehydrated during the day.
I have not, however, heard from anyone as to whether camping around Willow
Spring would be unpleasant because of the cows.
