[pct-l] White/Inyo mountains crest trail?

As I was driving back to L.A. yesterday on Hwy. 395
from the ALDHA west gathering up near Echo Lake (had a
great time) I was looking to the east and wondering if
there's any type of trail system that runs near the
crest of the White and Inyo mountains?  
If so, anyone on this list tried it?
Anyone know the general water situation up there?
