Chuck,
I really like the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W1 5.1 mega-pixel camera
(http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Sony/sony_dscw1.asp). It uses 2 AA
batteries and weighs in at less than 9 ounces. Has a small form factor and
large display screen.
Not the cheapest or lightest but does take great photos.
