[pct-l] maps??

The maps in the Guidebooks are perfect for a thru-hike. Just enough detail to navigate the trail. You don't need USGS or BLM maps. I haven't looked at the Hiker Trash maps. I do have the CD-Rom which has PCT maps. It's a cool CD, but when you compare those maps plus printing costs to the cost of the Guidebook maps (you should have the Guidebooks ANYWAY for the trail descriptions), the Guidebook maps are by far the least expensive. And, they're great maps for the PCT.

The Tom Harrison JMT maps will help in the Sierra.

One thing I have been wondering about, but haven't asked is: What kinds of maps do people carry on a PCT thru hike? I know people carry the 2 volume guidebooks in chunks, but those maps don't seem suitable for navigation. Seems like it would be better (and more prudent) to have a map that covered a larger area. Do people carry USGS maps? BLM? The maps from the Hiker Trash Haven webiste? I plan on carrying Tom Harrison's maps thru the Sierras.

What's yer map fancy?
Thanks in advance!
