I heard some very reasonable arguments that the structure and cost of Trail Fest isn't very hiker friendly (not near camping or hiking areas and the hotel too expensive). I do think the presentations would be wonderful to share, and the witnessing of the award presentations for the various trail supporters is something everyone with an interest in the PCT community should be a part of.

BTW, the Mission Inn, where the event is scheduled to be held next year, is a truly historic and beautiful place.

The PCTA still puts on an annual Trail Fest. It was two weeks before the ADZ (this year) in Portland.  It will be in Riverside in 2006.  I think they had almost 400 people attend this year.

Should this group attack the PCTA's Trail Fest for growing too large, too  soon?  Tell them how to change?  Who should now do what?  Where they should locate each year? etc.
