FW: [pct-l] Ashland I-5 question

I guess this would be the best find for solid fuel tablets (in bulk)
that I could scare up. http://www.trailquest.net/dlgchxtab.html

Smaller means more flexibility and they're cheaper per ounce than most
Esbit prices I've seen. Not sure if they'll send directly to the trail
or not though.

There's two outfitters near Main Street. Ashland Outfitters, who have
the
PCT register, and another in the plaza. Both friendly and helpful. They
may do special orders if they don't carry them. The Ashland Chamber of
comerce will be glad to give you their number.
REI will ship them to you, but only UPS. This takes a physical address.
(This is what I did.)
I used Esbits 1800 miles last year and never ran out.
Buying them along the way................................ forget it.
Even
the REI near Agua Dulce didn't have them in stock.
Mine were all shipped, or bounced.
A good flame (1 1/4 tablets or 5/8 ounce) gives off enough heat for 2
cups
of water. 8 ounces makes almost 13 meals, so I justified not
resupplying
them in every town.
I'm using the same this year.
Do you know where to get a bulk discount?

Then again, most esbit users seem to switch to alcohol in the first 400
miles. You'll find some in hiker boxes in this stretch.
