My advice would be to delay the trip if possible, and to start from
Yosemite. Starting from the North end, the country just keeps getting
nicer and you have a week or 10 days before the high passes. The JMT
in June is a bold adventure with lots of fords and passes covered with
snowfields. A few weeks later you are going to have wildflowers all
over the place, and a much easier time over the passes.
