In addition to everything Jon said I would add that there is a lot of wind on the Oregon Coast. I did an overnigher walking up the beach one time and got windburnt on my face. Also, a large portion of the trail is road walking, this is not necessarily a bad thing, but be aware of what you're getting into. It is not a wilderness experience akin to the PCT.
