One simple reason why So.Cal is not covered: lack of sensors.

All I can find are real time precip sensors, tip-buckets, etc. No  snow-water-equiv,
not even snow depth, by ANY agency. I assume this is because the local
mountains have a much less impact on water supply than the Sierra's.

If anyone knows if such stations exist, PLEASE let me know and they will 
most definitely be added.

The best that I could find for San Jacinto and Big Bear were manual snow
depths posted on the web from local fire depts. Given the sporadic nature of the data, it
appears the samplers take weekends off. :) I was enteraining the idea of
putting it in, just to have SOMETHING. But it was to cheesy for even me.

Repeating, if you know of automated stations is SoCal who have their data available
on the web, lemme know!
