No, no, no, all of you amatuer geologists have this wrong.  Ilja is right, 
those ARE alien space probes that were shot into the granite specifically to 
test for the valuable hard rock minerals that their ships require for their 
sub-light speed engines.  You are just seeing the tip of the iceberg as these are 
all over the place off trail.  The aliens have been doing this for millenia and 
the big earthquake off of Sumatra was their first serious mining expedition.
