Now that's just the sort of thing you'd expect from a sick and demented
mind!
...I wish I'd have done it....
But seriously:
As long as you're not hanging sausages outside your tent over your ice
chest, you'd probably be fine.
And as Eric mentioned, once the bear's got your food, it isn't yours
anymore...
I remember a post from this years thru-hikers that there was a couple of
brave (?), or more accurately, desperate, girls who successfully
deterred a bear off their food.
I suppose if you're hungry and faced with a few days worth of hiking
before resupply, you'll start to think strange thoughts of fighting
bears for your food...

Ha, ha. An oldie but goodie. Actually the
follwoing is a true story (I know, because I did
it!). While in Jasper National Park up in
Canada, I found a bear bell along a trail that
had obviously fallen off of someone's pack (the
string was rotted through). I carried that bell
with me on every trail I hiked, and sure enough,
I eventually found a big, old splat of Grizzly
dung. I then carefully, and lovingly placed the
bell in the scat--deep enough for affect, but
still shallow enough to be easily seen, and
continued on my way. To this day I have been
curious is anyone ever saw that and wondered
(with my luck, probably not).
