[BULK] - [pct-l] What do use to carry your 2 gallons per day of water in the desert?

Though I'm sure this info can be found in the guidebooks, in the PCT-L
archives and fresh responses like this:

(miles rough approximations)

Border to Morena Res- 20 miles dayhike with no more than a gallon. More
if you camp somewhere in between. Then there's water spigots at the
park. If you're starting early enough (early spring), there's at least
three spots where you'll find water: once just past the railroad tracks,
another gurgle above the ranch houses and at Hauser canyon.

Morena Res to Mt Laguna - 20 miles. Water at Boulder Oaks (adjacent to
the 8 freeway), Kitchen and Long creek, Cibbets Flat (developed
campground- highly recommend camping there!), trough above horse meadow,
Burnt Ranchiera and Mt Laguna town. Also a spigot on the trail just
outside the town. I only carried a 2 liter platy and refilled along the
way.

Mt Laguna to Scissors- (going from memory cuz I'm too lazy to pick up
the guidebook ;)) what? 34 miles? Then another 18 miles through the San
Felipes?
Here's the start of the real dry part... water cache at Lucky 5 and at
Scissors. (even with a good flow, I'd think thrice before I'd pump water
from the creek at scissors).
There's a water tank at the bottom of Rodriguez Truck Trail, just before
you drop into The Borrego. Not the FIRST tank you'll see, which is near
the top of the canyon near Cuyamaca, but the second. This first one
hasn't seen water in what looks like ages...
I cached my own water at scissors (along with an oilcan!), so I did this
with my 2 liter platy from Mt Laguna to Cuyamaca, then my 2 liter and a
cytomax mix in a quart nalgene from Cuyamaca to Scissors.

I also tagged along with Charlie Jones to cache water at third gate, so
my 2 liter was all I needed across the San Felipes. (hot tip: IF there's
no water at Third Gate, then a quick 3 mile walk down to the ranch house
just east of the cache you'll find a water spigot). Then you'll find
water at the trough at Barrel Springs.

Between Barrel Spring and Warner Spring is a glorious walk (or so it
seems after doing The Borrego and San Felipes!), but you'll still find
water halfway through at Ysidro Creek (the amazing disappearing creek!)

So, I did all of Section A with a 2 liter platy...

We're doing some planning for section hiking the desert parts of the
PCT - probably section A in early March. The guide says you need 2
gallons of water per person per day. Do you use those collapsible 1.5L
Nalgene bottles, 4 of those 2 L soda bottles or what?
Thanks,
