[pct-l] Section Hikers Unite!

Hi,
Like many people I would prefer to hike or at least be loosely affiliated with other section or through-hikers. My solution will be to attend the ADZPCTKO to meet as many hikers as I can. By attending the kickoff I hope to learn how many hikers will be around my section hike starting point at the time that I plan to launch my walk. I will then plan my hike to meet as many of the section and through-hikers as possible.
I will be hiking Sections I through R, which is the approximately 800 miles from Tuolumne Meadows to Ashland Oregon beginning the second week of July 2005. The hike will take about 6 weeks or so with a planned zero day each week. My pace is 3 miles per hour, slower uphill, faster down hill. I believe in HYOH, but it would be great to see a smiling face at the end of each day.
I plan to resupply from trail-towns where ever possible and will use trail town accomodations when convenient.
This section hike will be a test to see if I possess the grit to complete the entire PCT the following April. My hiking experience includes a solo16 day (including a zero) through-hike of the JMT and several yearly shorter high Sierra hikes including four Whitney summits (2 from Portal and 2 from Crabtree). I would be happy to hear from others planning 2005 NoCal section hikes.

There is a "PCT Section" group in San Diego County. We are NOT a discussion
group, but instead a group of locals who actually have meetings about 3
times a year and get together for PCT hikes and backpacks. There were only a
few trips this year, but these included a good part of the Muir Trail for a
few. Last year several of us did several hundred miles together, including
one who finished section hiking California at Campo during ADZ. Others are
more interested in day hikes in Southern Cal and trail work. Email me
OFFLIST for info and include your real name, address, and telephone.
