True story: When the Soviets foughts in Afghanistan
they found that the standard issue combat boots were
not up to the challenge.  They ended up switching to
tennis shoes!

Forgot the title of the book I read, but it was
written by a former Soviet general.

Just an interesting little footnote (no pun intended.
