[BULK] - [pct-l] BearVault failure BV200 reportedly failed.

Damn!

So why doesn't Garcia make their cans out of Lexan too?
Then they'd have the desirable traits that the Bear Vault had:
Lightweight and See-Thru!

So, what was the failure? Claw still got under the edge of the lid?
Or did the Lexan simply not resist puncture?

Damn!!!!!

Got back monday from a 10 day with Photo-Man. Had a great trip, did 75?
miles, mostly cross country. Hopefully will post photos for you guys.
But. To the point....

You may remmeber a previous post about the BearVault BV100 failor.
I talked to Ranger Roxian? In Kings Canyon and the BV200 repordadly has
failed.
She thought that the BearVault "MAY" loose its certification next year.

Mike and Amy are already back on the trail before I could get ahold of

have sent them your email address so they can respond to you. Guess
that's all I can due for now.

Class of 2005.

P.S. They are doing California (Mexico to Oregon). I don't know if they
are redueing the Yosemity-Sonora Pass section or not. My understanding
is they had 2 bear cans. I assume if the bears got in 1, they probably
got both of them. They aparently returned the cans to REI where they had
bought them.

If I can be of any further help, please let me know.

Thanks Mountain Goat. All information we have to date is the failures
in Yosemite and Sequioa have all been the 2 piece lids. Nobody has
information yet on the Kearsage Lake failure.

Mountain Goat-

I forwarded your comments to Jamie at BearVault. Do you know how to
contact
Mike and Ann? Could you contact Jamie at BearVault (info@bearvault.com)
so
he could get more info on their BearVault failure? The bears thank you!

I have just been informed that Mike and Amy who were using the Bear
Vault
cans, were broken into. This happened in Yosemite Park, a few days ago.
I
went to the bear vault.com web page have found that they have a upgrade.
Check this link out for info.

http://www.bearvault.com/bearvault_productnotices.php

If you have a Bear Vault, you can get an upgrade. And since Mike and Amy
both have lost a supply of food from a Bear North of Tuolumne meadows, I
suggest you get the upgrade. Aparently they said that the bears could be
heard spinning the top of the lid, and when that didn't work, the bears
were
able to get their claws under the lid and pry it off.
