[pct-l] bear spray and packs

Two questions:

1)has anyone had experience actually using bear spray to repel the buggers,

and 2) for those who do use canisters, where do you keep you packs at night,
since bears are habituated to dig through them whether they contain food or
not? Sleep with them? Hang them? What are people doing?
