I used boots when I went down it was snowing and 19 degrees at the top. I 
tried to beat the heat and did it in early March. When I arrived at the bottom it 
was 78 degrees. I would take my NB 806 today. Take a lot of water, sun 
screen, an a wide brim hat. I avoided taking a tent or bivy by staying at the 
Phantom Ranch it's an experience. Try their Beef Stew family style. Make 
reservations.
