I plan to be on the area by that time too. I wonder if that route will
be passable by then without ice axe / crampons. I don't plan to carry
them as I'm hiking for a month and it wouldn't probably be worth for
just that spot as I can always go the lower alternative across Little
Giant pass but I'd still prefer the High pass route as it's shorter and
looks more scenic. I plan to get as much info as possible on snow levels
before I depart for the trip and during the trip itself but what do you
think it'll be like by mid-August? will you be carrying the tools in
your trip? can the snow still be hard packed or even icy that late in
the season? can we expect fully snow covered slopes or just patches one
can go around? I welcome your comments
