[pct-l] mailing to post office

You've got it exactly right. Make sure that "my name" is your given name.
The name listed on your driver's license. NOT your trail name. You don't
need to write "Post Office" on your package. Also, in the bottom left
corner of the package, write "Hold for PCT Hiker. ETA: date" with "date"
being your expected arrival date at that PO.
If you use the zip codes listed in the Data Book and/or Yogi's PCT Handbook,
your package will arrive at the correct place.
Some larger towns have more than one PO. South Lake Tahoe is one of these
towns. All hiker mail at South Lake Tahoe will be at the Main PO, not at
any of the branch PO's. Actually, right now I can't think of any other
places with more than one PO. Ashland has a postal substation in the Rite
Aid, but only one PO.
Oh, and be careful in Big Bear City. There is an adjacent town named Big
Bear Lake. Both cities have their own main PO.
-----------------------------------------------
I just want to make sure I got this right. If I'm mailing to a post office,
all I need to do is address it to:
My Name
c/o General Delivery
City, State, Zip code
and it will get there? Is there only one post office per zip code? I don't
need to say "Post Office" anywhere or say anything about which post office
it is?
Thanks ahead of time,
Steve
