Hey Kelly,

On my hike of the PCT, no where did I use DEET or any other chemical repellant. 
Not near Benson Lake, not in 3 Sisters, nor in Goat Rocks Wilderness.

I use a highly breathable, polyester wind suit with your typical headnet. It ain't
sexy, it ain't cute but it's bullet proof. In my opinion, it's far better than using
a chemical that effects the nevrous system of mosquitos. 

Further, this is the attire I slept in at night when in mossie country, not using a 
tent, but a tarp without netting.

The bottom line is, you'll have to experiment and find out what works for you.
