[pct-l] New Market in Agua Dulce and White's Motel

Gottago is telling it like it is -- the new market in Agua Dulce is FANTASTIC. There will be many trail depravation induced food fantasies fulfilled when hikers arrive here in AD. They're open seven days a week, up to 9:00 p.m. or so.

Also, heard that the White's Motel escrow closed, and that the new owner has taken over. Word is that he knows about the hikers, as the previous owner was kind enough to pass the torch. Hopefully the new owners will get caught up in the spirit of the PCT and be supportive in some way.

Along that line, I just learned that Nick Deger, whose form of angeling is to give rides in the Tehachapi area, is now in Iraq. I know that in recent years his ability to provide hiker's assistance was limited by the arrival of a new baby -- meaning his wife is now alone at home with at least one small child. Those of you who are so inclined might want to add Nick and his young family to your prayer list.

Also news from the Tehachapi area, there was a report of someone parked and waiting at the overpass at Hwy 158 and Cameron Road, just waiting for hikers to come along and give them a ride into Mojave or Tehachapi. Wonder if they'll be showing up more this year? Time will tell . . .
