Did this at Cajon Pass when I looked back at the railroad tracks and heard 
the rattle out of my right ear.  I lept up and over him gaining about 400 feet 
of elevation (well, it felt like that much with the adrenalin) and he skidadled 
away as much in fear of me as I was of him.
