[pct-l] Rattlers?

I was hiking up the Bubbs creek Trail from Kings Canyon to rejoin the PCT.
The bushes were waist high on each side of me when I heard the rattle out of
my right ear.  I did not see any snake on the trail in front of me so I
jumped up the trail with the 'adrenalin' that Big Hummel had and I am sure I
could have set a new record for the broad jump even at my tender age. I
think in retrospect I should have backed down the trail. I have heard the
rattle of the snake a few times and I usually do back up and take a good
look around before I proceed. I give the snake the right of way.
