And the officer that writes a citation to a disabled person pulling his gear on a wheeled cart gets my vote for "Heartless Bastard Of The Year" award.
I raise my Oilcan to John for his extraordinary effort! I'm not looking forward to that descent into the Banning Pass from the San Jac.
John, do you find it easier to descend with the cart in front or behind you? How did you manage the trail from Cuyamaca down into Rodriguez Truck Spur?
That descent kicked my butt!

I may have been too quick with my response. I remember reading (on this
list, I think) that nothing with wheels is permitted on the PCT. But I
don't remember the source. As I prefer to back statements with fact, I
tried to find those facts, but the best I can do is this quote from the PCTA
website:
"The PCT has been designated as a non-mechanized trail by the U.S. Forest
Service (the agency responsible for management of the trail). This means the
trail is open to foot and horse (or other pack stock) travel only. Bicycles
and motorized vehicles are not permitted."
NON-MECHANIZED. That may be open to interpretation. I would imagine it
would include a pulled cart, but I'm not sure.
