Tevas were not my only footwear.  I carried a pair of tevas and a pair of low cut hiking shoes and enjoyed the Sierras and the desert very much this past year.  BTW in the Complete Walker IV seal skins come highly recommended for general backpacking. That is why I tried them. I must apoligize, I thought  this list was more about backpacking than mountaneering.  My mistake.
