I concur that removing unnecessary previous email responses is appropriate.
But, sometimes you need the thread to understand what someone is saying.
And sometimes you want to know who started it all so you can reply directly
to them. This is the same in the work world. It is very easy to just hit
reply and send and - off goes everything. Then not only must the recipient
process the whole message but may need to read through pages of responses to
figure out what the issue was in the first place. I just deleted everything.
Judge for yourself if what I am responding to makes any sense.

With my current high-speed internet connection, as long as pictures aren't
imbedded in the message, the size doesn't matter to me.
