Someone on the list suggested Wright socks at Wrightsocks.com.  They have an outer layer and a inner liner built into them.  Whoever suggested them has saved me from hammer toe (nasty) for the past year.  A little pricey, 8-9 bucks a pair, but well worth it to me.  Campmor sells the hiking extra by Wright.  Sometimes you can get them on sale.  I bought five pair for $20.00.  Love them.
