[pct-l] Umbrellas

In Southern California, in April and May, in a typical year, not only can the 
desert sections of the PCT be hot, but they also are commonly windy.  Not 
particularly a good situation for umbrellas.  Perhaps this is why so many carry 
them instead of use them?
