[pct-l] Burning Calories

At the following site: http://tinyurl.com/pthf , one can enter one's weight and 60 minutes to get an approximation of calories burned. For my weight of 180, I burn 572 calories an hour. It said that walking at 3 MPH for my weight, burned about 236 calories less.
At http://tinyurl.com/ptib , the total for b'packing was the same and equivalent to .97 Big Macs. Factors such as weight of pack, incline or decline, speed, or condition of athlete were offered. Gender differences didn't change the total.
A 3rd site differentiated between light, moderate and heavy backpacking resulting in 408, 654 and 816 calories respectively.
Whatever rate you chose, determining the amount of calories required for b'packing is not solely determined by calories burned on a daily basis. There is also a total from one's BMR that needs to be added in to find the ideal daily caloric consumption. Additional info for totalling calories is found at http://tinyurl.com/pti9
