Yes!
My hiking partner introduced me to these last year.
I ordered 90 this year for the last 650 miles of the
PCT.
They have no perservatives *AT ALL*. They have more
calories per ounce than power/balance bars. A 3.75oz
bar has 420 cals/59 carbs/17 protein.
If you're into a chemical free hike, no DEET, no
chemical water treatments, then this is for you.
Now if I could stop the daily Ibuprofen/Excedrin
cocktail I'd be set. Platalets are highly over-reated.

Has anyone tried Bear Valley bars? Chris Townsend recommends them in his
Advanced Backpacking book. I think they are much better than Power Bars
and Clif Bars (which I can't stand). I wouldn't call them good but they
are much better than the alternatives. Plus they contain all essential
amino acids and they seem more like "real" food. Perfect for people with
high metabolisms (I think they contain over 400 calories).
