I used one on my Oregon PCT trip in '01.  It worked really well for me
allowing me to not only stay in touch with my family and friends, but allow
me to have an updated journal on my web site.  One place in particular, the
Big Lake Youth Camp - a great, friendly, resupply stop - had no phones.  So,
in this case, my Telmail was useless, as would have been a phone card.
