[pct-l] a few confusing spots??



I agree with Sly. The places that were most confusing were where the PCT
meets the rest of the world. There are just to many "social trails" where
day hikers meet the trail. The last 1/4 mile down to the Idylwild trailhead
comes to mind - although this is off the PCT.

We lost the trail in the high passes because the snow was 3 feet deep. I
don't consider that a problem. Just check the map for the general route and
soon you'll see the trail below you.

We got by just fine with the guide maps. We used Tom Harrison maps in the
high sierra and didn't carry the guide sections. This was mostly because we
were familiar with the area. Sometimes we wished we had taken the guide for
the text.
