I think that the best names are given to you .Having said that i named
myself.
I had no trailname as I got to Mt. Laguna .I called home and found out my
dog had died.He was a husky-shepherd-?(his daddy was a traveling man they
say).Well he was the finest friend a man could have.He was 15 and I had  him
since I could hold him in one hand.
I grieved  and remebered a So. African tribe that would honor one of their
departed by one the family members assuming the name of the deceased  for 1
yr.
His name was Rogue.
It felt right then and continues to feel right.
Over the years that Dog saw a lot of my girlfriends come and go.One of them
as a final shot at me said over her shoulder as she was leaving"If you were
only half the man your dog is".
When I'm faced with a challenging bit of trail and need a boost I think
of my Dog, and that line sometimes.
