[pct-l] Calfornia guidebook alternative?

There are an alternate set of maps, downloadable from
hikertrash. Unfortunately all sections aren't done
yet, but that might be an option.
Used downloaded maps for 2-3 weeks hiking on the PCT
last summer in Or an Wa. They worked fine. Better maps
than the ones in the guidebooks in some senses (covers
more, color), but the trail wasn't as accurate as the
guidebooks in all place. Worked at least as well as
the guidebook maps even with snow cover.
The text in the guidebook is helpful for some places
though.
So, if the missing sections could be completed then
that might be a better (at least more legal) solution
than copying the guidebook, and a copy wouldn't show
color for the lakes and streams. Although the use of
color in the guidebook is extremely limited it's
pretty helpful. I've tried orienteering on copied maps
(not form the guidebook) and it's much more difficult.
