[pct-l] hitchiking to lone pine from trail pass/horseshoe meadow

I got a ride to Whitney Portal from Lone Pine (right next to horseshoe
meadow) for 20 bucks.
The cat who owns the fishing tackle shop on 395 (you know, the one with the
big fish hanging on it, East side of the street, right accross the street
from
Whitney Portal Rd.) hooked me up with a guy who was more than
happy to beat the valley heat and head up to the portal for the rest of the
afternoon.
The tackle shop owner said he was watched numerous hikers waiting at
that intersection for hours for a ride.
