[pct-l] Or-Wa snow
You didn't say when you were coming out. We have been up to the Sisters area
over July 4th in past years and have always had snow up high. Snow level
was very high this year - thought I heard about 140% of normal. So, if you
come soon, expect to be in snow - compacted, but snow. Route finding may be
a bit hard.
Just flew over the area coming into Seattle and Portland - snow all over the
mountains right now. Was up on Mt. Hood June 9th - all snow at the
Timberline Lodge (PCT/Timberline Trail) level. But, temperatures are high
and snow must be melting fast. Hope to get up this weekend and can say
more. At lower elevations, no problem.
Without a car you can get to the passes (Snoqualmie, Stevens, White Pass)
and hike between them. Or in Oregon, to Cascade Locks and then North to
White Pass or South to .... Also, to Santiam Pass and the Jefferson area.
You may need to hitch hike, but it should work.
