[pct-l] Climate Change Indicators

Okay,

Here's the best, well documented, scientific article that I have found
outlining the perspective on global warming from a geologist's longer point
of view.

Check out: http://www.earthinstitute.columbia.edu/news/story0_1.html
"Scientist Refutes Notion of Recent Climate as "Uniquely Benign" -
Sees Evidence of Approaching Ice Age Despite Global Warming
by Kurt Sternloff"

It basically outlines the record of pollen and ice cores over the past few
hundred thousand years and puts our temperature record in that context.
Simply put, there isn't too much evidence that current global warming (real)
is out of the pattern of the global warming and cooling cycles caused
(supposedly) by the variation in earth's orbit and that causes periodic ice
ages.

THIS IS NOT TO SAY THAT WHAT WE (HUMANS) ARE DOING IS OKAY AND THAT WE DON'T
HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT PUTTING TONS OF POLUTION INTO THE AIR, EARTH AND OCEANS!

I believe that we have been ignorant, short-sited and total jerks in our
handling of earth's resources so far. I pray that we wise up quickly before
we screw it totally up forever. However, one of the benefits of a
geologist's view point of time is that with one or two million years left to
itself, the earth is amazing at healing just about any scar that it puts on
itself or we may put upon it.
