[pct-l] Llamas? (was: Are dogs alowed on the trail?)

I do 10-15 mile days with my goats. They can do 20 miles with a smaller
pack, (20 or so pounds.) Above that and they need extra feed carried for
them making them become less efficient, as they cannot browse enough to
sustain their weight. Under that, they will eat almost anything available
and maintain their weight without having to have part of their load taken up
by feed for them. Using lightweight packing techniques I have successfully
taken 2 goats out for 3 weeks at a time without refueling,
Other animals may carry more, but the tradeoff is that some of that weight
is food for them.
