[pct-l] Re: Oregon Mt. Hood Ramona Falls to Lolo Pass Trail

Well, I also took the trail from Romana Falls to Lolo Pass last year - the
upper trail. No problem. The upper trail is spectacular, one of the
prettiest around Mt. Hood. There are washouts at the rivers (Muddy Fork -
two crossings, each pretty bad even in August), but you can get across - at
least you could last year. With all of the snow up here this year, the river
will probably do more cutting. Most of you won't reach Oregon until August -
by that time you probably will have crossed many rivers and will be able to
handle most things. But, good to know and check when you get to Timberline.
The lower trail misses Bald Mountain and that spectacular view looking back
at Mt. Hood..

Another caution: Carry water from Ramona Falls - there may be water at
Muddy Fork, but it may well be what its name is. Next water is about a mile
past Lolo Pass.
