My analysis is that most years you could get through the Lagunas, San
Bernadinos and San Gabriels starting in September. Not much water though.

PS: Joanne. I have never had Guiardia and filter all the time. A friend of
mine who did filter but washed pots and pans in unfiltered water did get it.
A boy scout leader type told me that you had a 10% chance in a likely
polluted stream and 1% in an unlikely polluted stream. His basis, I don't
know.

With nothing else to do this beautiful, warm, blue sky day but think of
being
on the PCT, I got to wondering about something:
I wonder how much of the PCT you could comfortably hike in Southern
California with this gorgeous October, December and most of January weather?
I'll bet you could walk from the border beginning in October and get to the
Sierras before the snow started to seriously fly. What a great section hike
with no one else around!
Ponderings,
Greg "Strider" Hummel
