At Whitney Portal the camp hosts recommend you just leave your windows open
so the bears and crawl in and out without much damage. I've never seen
anyone other than the hosts actually do it.

I clean the inside of my truck thoroughly before leaving town, don't eat
anything in it on the way up, and leave nothing in it except a change of
clothes spread out. No duffle bags, no water containers, no toiletries,
nothing.

I'd rather file an insurance claim for bear damage than for theft because I
made it too easy for the two-legged varmints.
