[pct-l] Weekend trip
If you're going to be living in San Diego County, you'll want to get "Afoot
and Afield in San Diego County" by Jerry Schad, published by Wilderness
Press. Not the only hiking guide, but considered by many to be the best for
the county.
Rt 78 to Rt 79 is about 24 miles with no water unless there's a cache. It's
a great hike for spring time, but rather hot now.
There's some possibilities in the Laguna Mountains, and the Cuyamacas,
although the latter is limited for backcountry camping. More opportunties
are in the San Jacintos and San Bernardinos another hour north.
BTW, I met (and gave food to) a thru-hiker named Patch at Tuolumne Meadows
on June 20 - not you by any chance, is it?
