[pct-l] Lucky update and Alcohol Stoves

Got an e-mail from 2000 thru-hiker Lucky who is has now hiked thru Mexico ,
Central America, and is now in Columbia hiking his way to the Southern Tip of
South America. He had a little trouble with local teenage thugs try to steal
his money and took a knife in the arm. Says he's OK but is now packing a
knife as well for a little protection ( At least to even the odd!) ######
Alcohol stoves are a little slow Nathan if you are planning on cooking a pot
roast, but work quite well for 2 or 3 cups of water. Roughly twice the time
to cook ,but half the weight. If it takes 5 minutes to boil 2 cups of water
with alcohol, you may be able to boil 2 cups with a whisperlight in 2 and a
half minutes. If extra weight and set time are not a big deal , use the
whiperlight. I will bring a few homemade alcohol burners to kick-off to
handout to anyone who would like to try them out. ( Special thanks to Bob
Reiss and Roy Robison for getting me hooked!!)
