Ah, it is a beautiful sight!

I was up at Big Bear two weeks ago before the last large storm to ski and 
stay in a YMCA camp.  A good snow base at the ski resort, some is artificial. 
 Over the pass on the east shoulder of Mt. San Gorgonio the snow was solid in 
the three to four foot deep range on north facing and forested slopes, and 
half or less that on the south facing.

I will be beginning to hike into the San Gabriels in a week or two and let 
the list know what the conditions are like.
